Suicide Bereaved Network
Annual General Meeting 2018: “Living with Suicide Loss”
Manchester, 29th September

Following on from our inaugural AGM in Birmingham last year, this year’s AGM will be held in Manchester, on 29th September. We are delighted to welcome two inspiring bereaved families who are using their own experience to fight stigma and to promote a wider understanding of mental health issues.

Bereavement counsellor Gillian Brooks, from West Yorkshire, will present her 30-minute film “What Remains“, which tells the moving story of her husband’s life, and how she and her family are coping with his loss. There will be time for questions and discussion following the screening.

Dinesh and Neelam Sharma, from Essex, will tell us about the Sky Sharma Foundation, which they have set up in memory of their son Akash, known as Sky, to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health in Britain’s South Asian community.

We will also have an opportunity to hear from Abbie Mitchell, our own Youth Trustee and mental health blogger, about her work in mentoring peer support for young people.

There will also be the usual business of the AGM, including the Chair’s and Treasurer’s reports, and the opportunity for members to vote in our new Trustees. Download the full Programme leaflet here.
